Richard joined Ark following a recommendation from John Jowitt, who had previously worked with Richard in The First. Richard handled drum duties on the New Scientist EP and the 2 cassette albums, Stand Alone and Archives.

After leaving the band, Richard was planning to start his own retail buisness.
