Steve was recruited into Damascus thanks to his brother Andy, who was their bass player at the time. Continuing as Kite and then Ark, Steve helped to carve their unique sound.

After the split in 1995, Steve continued performing, playing with a covers band, She's the Boss, for 2 years with ex-Ark drummer Paul Rodgers. He then went on to work with Red, and a project with his brother Andy.
